Many businesses may think that using branded umbrellas limits the amount of advertising as they can only be used when it's raining. However, this isn't the case, particularly not living in the UK!
Branded umbrellas offer great marketing and brand opportunities and are proven to give good results for businesses. An umbrella has a large advertising space that can really show off a brand. Combine this with its long shelf life and it's surprising that more companies don't use umbrellas to promote their brands!
One of the main advantages of using umbrellas as a promotional tool is the fact they are used in public places. Unlike mugs, which are used within the home or within a business, umbrellas are seen by lots of passers-by, perhaps even potential customers you haven't yet considered. Umbrellas are used by everyone and are one of the quickest and easiest ways to get your brand name out into the market place.
Other benefits of using branded umbrellas are their cost. Whilst they may be more expensive than promotional pens you can guarantee they will last longer. Umbrellas have a very long shelf life, if you consider they are generally only used for a few months of the year (although living in the UK, this is often more!), you will understand how long they can last for.
There are several different types of umbrella available and the style you choose will be dependant on the people you want to target. If you are targeting city dwellers, then it is likely you will choose a smaller style of umbrella, such as the city umbrella or the telescopic. This is because there are so many more people in the city, so there is less room for maneuver with umbrellas.
Alternatively, if you are targeting people living in the countryside or who play golf then you may want to choose a larger umbrella. There is much more room to have a bigger umbrella and a larger covering is often needed! This is even better as you have a bigger space to work with which means your brand is guaranteed to be seen.
You should also consider how you want your brand to be seen on the umbrella. Do you want to target a corporate audience? If so, a darker umbrella with your logo will be suitable. If not, you may want to choose a bright colour which will make your brand memorable.
