All aspiring university students should now have received their results and most will know what university they will be attending next month. What is one product that university students will all appreciate? Printed USB's.
A USB is a portable data storage drive, perfect for students and many other business people. USB's are removable and rewritable and much smaller than carrying around a compact disc or even worse, a hard drive. This is why they are so popular among students. Add to this the fact that you can use custom USB sticks, such as USB pens or even different shaped USB's and you're onto a winner!
Figures show that the amount of university applicants in 2013 has risen by 3.5% showing that even more students will be heading to a university in September. Whilst there have been lots of changes to the Higher Education system, most notably the charges for education, what many teenagers don't realise is that going to university is actually something many people have done for centuries. In fact, there are seven universities in the UK which are described as 'Ancient Universities'.
Of the seven Ancient Universities, Oxford is the oldest. There is no clear date of foundation but research suggests that teaching has been in existence within the grounds of the university since at least 1096. The number of students attending the university increased further in 1167 after King Henry II banned English students from attending the University of Paris. Whilst teaching was suspended in 1209 and 1355, students have solidly graduated from Oxford University for many years.
The University of Cambridge is the next oldest, which was founded by scholars in 1209. Interestingly, the founders came from Oxford but disagreed with the execution of two further scholars so they decided to set up their own university to rival it. Other Ancient Universities include the University of St Andrews, University of Glasgow, University of Aberdeen, University of Edinburgh and the University of Dublin.
These seven universities often find themselves fashioned differently to the modern universities we know of today. This is because they choose to maintain their traditional standards and celebrate their heritage. As a result, they are considered to be the seven most prestigious universities in the UK.
As of 2008, the United Kingdom had almost 200 universities, so there is now plenty of choices for students to choose from. It doesn't matter what university they choose to go to, there will always be a need for printed USBs in educational institutions.
