The History Of The Christmas Pudding

The Christmas pudding was originated in the 14th century as a porridge called frumenty and it was made out of beef and mutton, raisins, currants, prunes, wines, and spices - delightful. It was often more like a soup consistency and was eaten as a fasting meal before the Christmas festivities.

However, by 1595 it had changed into the Christmas pudding we know and enjoy today. It had been thickened with eggs, breadcrumbs, dried fruit, and beer and spirits were added to enhance the flavour. In comparison to frumenty, it is now traditionally enjoyed at the end of the Christmas dinner.
