Become Environmentally Friendly Today

Environmental sustainability has been a hot topic for a few years now, though some people would rather have us believe that global warming is a myth, the evidence is showing that the earth's climate is getting warmer and warmer. In an effort to prevent further environmental damage, governments, companies and regular people have all been trying to cut down on their emissions and waste. For example, the UK government has recently introduced a new 5p charge for plastic bags in order to make people think twice about using new bags, rather than reusing their previous bags and bags for life.

In this current environment, as more and more people become aware of the risks of global warming, it's important for businesses to try to be environmentally responsible. Huge firms have started making efforts to become more environmentally sustainable. Even previously highly polluting businesses such as Parcelforce are making an effort, including their recent 'Turning red vans green' campaign. This involved purchasing over 1,000 new advanced eco-friendly vans from Mercedes Benz, fitted with the ECO-Start system, which automatically cuts the engine if the vehicle is stationary for a short period of time.

You can read the Total Merchandise environmental policy here. At Total Merchandise, we're always making considerations for the environment. Did you know that we don't print a catalogue? That means we save paper, which might end up in landfills or be burnt. When choosing products to sell we also consider their environmental implications. Check out our 'Eco-Friendly' category, filled with recycled and reusable products.

How Can I Be More Environmentally Responsible?

There are a huge amount of ways you can be more environmentally focused. Simply turning down your thermostat by one or two degrees can lower your emissions and your spending on home heating. Why not take a reusable bag shopping with you, instead of wasting thin, disposable plastic bags. While you're at the supermarket, make sure to check the labels on the items you buy, products which are shipped from far across the world result in high emissions so it's best to buy local.

How Can My Business Be More Eco-Friendly?

There are a few simple things a firm can do to be more sustainable. Try to buy recycled, this includes things like office supplies. You can buy recycled paper, pens made from recycled plastic, and coasters created from recycled rubber. Instead of printing documents, they can be emailed around, but make sure to recycle anything you do print. Finally, your customers may enjoy eco-friendly bags, these are a great way to encourage environmental consciousness and get your brand name out.
