The last half term of the 2012/13 school term is coming up which means that sports days will soon be upon us – to the dread of many participating parents! Meaning the perfect opportunity for branded giveaways.
Sports days are usually held by schools in the summer presenting an opportunity for pupils and teachers to step out of the classroom. Parents are also often invited to watch sports activities. The activities tend to vary depending on the child's age. For example, younger children at primary schools won't often compete in field and track races, whereas older children are likely too. The children competing in each competition will often win a prize but it isn't always about winning but often the taking part as well.
Last year there was a lot of debate on whether all participants should receive a prize or whether it should only be the winners. Some psychologists stated that all children should receive a prize in a bid to boost confidence and improve self-esteem whilst others believe that children should learn about the failure to prepare them for later life.
Whether you choose to give an award or not, why not give every child taking part some kind of a branded giveaway as a thank you. It could be something as small as a chocolate medal for taking part, either way, the child is guaranteed to appreciate it. For many children, the thought of running onto a field in front of all of their peers, teachers, and parents, can be very daunting which is why we believe that all children should be rewarded.
There are many different products you could use to reward children for taking part, whether it be lollipops or sweets. The winners can then be rewarded with a medal or a tangible prize. They could also be gifted with a certificate to congratulate them on their victory.
One of the main advantages of using branded giveaways is that it will, of course, include your branding. A medal or award is likely to be kept throughout childhood, and often by the parents thereafter. This means at least ten years of promotion for your business. If your business were to sponsor your local school by providing them with sports day gifts, then you are giving something back to the local community.
Whether you are a school or a local business, you should consider branded giveaways as part of your marketing plan – particularly on sports days.
