In previous articles, we have discussed the usefulness of promotional mugs at home, work and the advertising advantages they hold for many companies.
However, we’ve recently been introduced to another advantage - cake in a mug. Cake in a mug is a quick simple solution to making a cake if you have that craving for something chocolaty, tasty, and warm, but don’t have the time to bake something.
How Do You Make A Cake In A Mug?
All you need are the following ingredients, a microwave, and a promotional mug.
There are a number of different recipes for cake in a mug, here are a few to try out:
Recipe 1 - Hot Cocoa Chocolate Cake
- 9 Tbsp. hot chocolate powder mix
- 4 Tbsp. self raising flour
- 1 egg
- 3 Tbsp. oil
Recipe 2 - Chocolate Cake
- 4 Tbsp. cake flour
- 4 Tbsp. granulated sugar
- 2 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1 egg
- 3 Tbsp. milk (any kind)
- 3 Tbsp. oil (any kind but peanut)
- Splash in a little vanilla
Once you’ve added the ingredients and mixed well, all you then need to do is pop it into the microwave for about three minutes (times may vary)... And voila!
What Other Uses Does A Promotional Mug Have?

Available in a range of colours to suit any campaign, these branded travel mugs comprise a double-plastic wall, open-shut lid, and a thumb-rest handle. Printed with your custom design to the front of the mug for maximum exposure wherever it is used.
Additionally, promotional mugs can also be used in cooking as a measuring instrument for liquids and powders. Our any colour mugs, pictured below, are ideal for use in the kitchen. Pantone matched and printed with your company logo these 330ml mugs are sure to draw attention to your brand.
In the 19th century, people used to use mugs to assist them in a wet shave as hot water from the tap was not a common feature in households. They would boil the water in a pan over the stove and pour it into the mug - we’re uncertain as to whether it was a promotional mug or not, but all the same. This was one way to provide a hot lather for a nice clean shave.
Personalise these promotional mugs with your customers' names for a completely bespoke finish, plus no one will get confused as to which mug is whose.
Jumping forward to today, we often see promotional mugs in shop windows, used for display purposes. In this sense, the promotional mug is never used to place liquids in, but only to hang on ‘mug trees’ to look pretty in the shop window, as an attempt to draw in the customers from the streets.
Perfect for displays are these branded stacking mugs, printed with your company artwork in up to full colour for an eye-catching showcase. Option to Pantone match the outside of the mug is also available for a unique design.
