Considering your marketing strategy throughout the Easter preparations

A week tomorrow marks an event which is celebrated in various areas, across the world, an event which is known by many, simply as Pancake Day. However, the deeper meaning which Pancake Day holds can certainly have a further impact upon a business' marketing over the next couple of months.

Shrove Tuesday And The Period Of Lent

The occasion is also known as Shrove Tuesday, and its ties belong with the religious tradition of Lent. A period of fasting, by which in modern society, during Lent people tend to give up a favoured item, whether it be a game, or food, for a period of forty days, and forty nights. With more and more people choosing to give up an item of food, often for further reasons, such as to lose weight, it means that the importance of Shrove Tuesday has grown somewhat.

Shrove Tuesday is a day when all the unnecessary food items, such as lemons, sugar, butter, eggs are all used up to ensure that there is no temptation throughout the period of Lent. So where does a marketing strategy come into all of this? A well detailed, and effectively planned business strategy will have realised the potential positives, and negatives that the period of Lent can have upon the success of the policy.

Taking Lent Into Consideration When Planning Your Marketing Strategy

Firstly, the consideration of how your business can gain exposure as a result of Shrove Tuesday, could prove to be extremely advantageous, with various promotional tools available to advertise your brand. Furthermore, it should be noted that the promotion of your business through kitchen utensils could prove to extremely successful, as BPMA studies have shown that a product which acts as a utility, is one which the consumer will keep for longer... maybe even until Shrove Tuesday next year. With Pancakes set to dominate next Tuesday, branding utensils such as Spatulas and Pan Brushes could prove to be extremely beneficial to your business, with both items commonly used upon Shrove Tuesday.

Our branded wooden spatulas (pictured below) are the perfect promotional item for Pancake Day. Personalised with your branding either printed or hot stamped for lasting exposure.

When looking at the negative affect which Lent can have upon a marketing strategy, there are various items which are used regularly throughout the year as forms of promotions which may become somewhat reduced in effectiveness throughout the period of Lent, with people across the country choosing to give these up in order to follow the tradition.

In the same way that umbrellas are not hugely effective promotional products in the height of summer, luxury items such as chocolates, which are often given to customers as a form of reward may not prove to be as effective during the time of Lent.
