Promotional Bags that last

We've all had that moment when you're carrying your belongings in a plastic bag and it splits, at this time then promotional bags say it best.

It is one of life's biggest mysteries, why create a bag which isn't strong enough to carry things? The answer is simple, because of the material they are made from. Supermarkets get through an average 17.5billion carrier bags each year. If you consider that carrier bags cost money then this is the reason the bags aren't strong enough. Supermarkets will buy the cheapest carrier bags they can get away with, as they are giving them away for free. This is why they are often not strong enough to last.

Plastic bags are not only bad because they aren't very strong, but they are also extremely bad for the environment. Plastic bags are not biodegradable, they can take up to 1,000 years to break down into small enough particles to not be noticed. Plastic bags also carry out a danger to wildlife such as birds and mice. These animals can get stuck in plastic bags or choke on them. Thousands of wild animals die each year due to plastic bags.

Supermarkets and Governments are now working together to try and cut down the use of plastic bags. In Wales it is now illegal to give away carrier bags meaning by law, shops have to charge 5 pence for every bag used. The reason for this being not only environmental. Welsh Government has reported it costs them one million pounds each year to clean up single use bags and they are hoping that by charging usage will go down by 90%. With England warning they may carry out similar measures now is a better time than ever to introduce promotional bags.

At Total Merchandise, we have a large selection of promotional bags available. These include eco, tote, cotton and jute bags which are great for carrying shopping. These bags are a lot stronger than plastic bags so you will be able to carry more in them. The important factor to remember about these bags is that they are going to last. You do not want to give a promotional item away which is low in quality as it will reflect badly on your business.

Promotional bags are a great way to promote your business, especially if you are in Wales where free bags are already banned.
