Following the accidental development of a low tack adhesive by a scientist trying to create a super-strong glue, the 3M Post-it note was introduced to the public in 1977. Since then technology has come a long way. Computers are everywhere, in our pockets, TVs, children's toys and obviously on our desks at home and work. Why would you need a sticky note when you could type out a note on your phone or laptop? In today's blog, we'll be looking at sticky notes and how they compare to more modern note-taking methods.
They're Handy
We've all been there, we're on the phone and have a name, number or some form of information we've got to take down. If you're at work then odds are that you'll have a computer in front of you, but also a pot of pens and a few stacks of sticky notes. Chances are that you'll reach for the sticky notes rather than your keyboard - they're just more convenient than finding the right window, opening the right program, or creating a new document!
A Branding Opportunity
Whether you're planning to give them out or having them sitting on desks across the office sticky notes are a great way to promote a brand. Our Noteblocks are especially good due to their large printing area (pictured right).
Great For Doodling
While it's probably best not to do too much doodling at work (unless you're an illustrator), you can't deny that pen and paper have an edge over the keyboard due to the ease of simply drawing a picture or sketching an idea. Imagery can be a great way to describe layouts, design ideas, and all sorts - they're often worth more than a thousand words!
In our opinion, sticky notes are still incredibly useful and are still an office staple. They offer more convenience over computers and can even be printed with company branding, making them great to give away as well as use around the office. As an environmentally conscious company, at Total Merchandise, we also stock Recycled Sticky Notes. We also recommend that any sticky notes you use are recycled.
