As you may have noticed, we post a new article every Tuesday and Thursday; we have found that having this News section on our website is a brilliant way to connect with our customers and add strength to Total Merchandise as a brand. We’ve put together our top 7 reasons why you should blog on your website…
1) You need original content
Not only do your followers appreciate the original content, but so does Google. Due to the new algorithm, you cannot collect articles from various website and share them with permission and then expect Google to grant that as original content, nor can you create some sort of robot to combine various bits of content into an article only a search engine could read. Original content needs to be just that, and trust us, your followers will thank you for it.
2) Traffic is good
Traffic jam? Bad. Traffic to a website? Great. The more content you add to your site, such as a blog post per week, the more pages from your domain become indexed in search engines such as Google. In turn, your page will receive increased website traffic and organic search visibility.
3) You can link blogs to social media
It all comes back to this original content idea - you want to be sharing your own content on social media! If you have a blog on your website, you will naturally have this original content to post on social media platforms and to pop in your email newsletters which will then convert into traffic to your site. At the end of the day, a large part of using social media for a business is to drive traffic to your site, so when people are clicking the link to your article (maybe like you just did), those leads will direct to your site.
4) Blogs create opportunities for sharing
If you are creating really interesting and thought-provoking content, why shouldn’t it be shared? Each original blog post you put up on your website creates an opportunity for someone who reads it to share with others. Perhaps they will link to your blog on social media, or email it to a friend - either way it is excellent exposure for your brand and validates your business as credible.
