This Sunday (27th March 2022), people all over the country will be celebrating Mother's Day; the day focused on expressing respect, honour and love towards mothers or mother figures of the family.
Mother's Day is an event to honour the contribution of mothers, acknowledge the efforts of maternal bonds and the role of mothers in our society.

Where Did Mother's Day Begin & How Has It Changed?
The date of Mother's Day changes each year because, in the UK, it first began as a church tradition that took place three weeks before Easter Sunday and on the fourth Sunday of Lent. On this day, Christians would visit their mother church (the main church in their family's area) which is why Mother's Day is often referred to as Mothering Sunday.
Whilst Mothering Sunday had a firm following for many centuries, by the 1930s the day had started to decrease in popularity. That was until WWII when Americans and Canadians felt it was important to give thanks and celebrate their mothers whilst they were away at war. Other nationalities (including the Brits and Europeans) recognised this and also began giving their thanks to mothers and since then Mother's Day has found its place on calendars across the globe.
Much like many other celebrations, Mother's Day has grown in popularity and as a result has become one of the biggest days for gifting. In fact, it even pips Valentine's Day to the post of the biggest flower buying day of the year!
